Manufacturing Overview
The Manufacturing module manages production orders — transforming raw materials and components into finished goods using Bills of Materials and Work Centre operations.
What Manufacturing does
Manufacturing handles the complete production cycle: defining Bills of Materials (what components make a product), planning production orders, tracking component consumption, recording finished goods, and calculating production costs. It connects with Inventory for component and finished goods stock, Purchase for material replenishment, and Accounting for cost of goods manufactured.
Key concepts
Bill of Materials (BoM): the recipe for a finished product — lists all components and quantities needed. Work Centre: a machine, workstation, or team that performs production operations. Routing: the sequence of operations at different work centres to complete the product. Manufacturing Order (MO): a specific production run for a quantity of a product.
