A Bill of Materials defines the components and quantities required to manufacture one unit of a finished product.

Product
*
The finished product this BoM produces.
Product Variant
If the product has variants, specify which variant this BoM applies to.
Quantity
*
How many finished units this BoM produces. Usually 1.
BoM Type
*
Manufacture This Product: standard production BoM. Kit: product is sold as a bundle of components, not assembled. Subcontracting: production is done by an external vendor.
Company
Restrict this BoM to a specific company in multi-company setups.

Add components
Under the Components tab, add each raw material or sub-component required. For each component, enter the product, quantity, and unit of measure. The quantities are for one finished unit (or whatever quantity is in the BoM header).
Component availability
Enable the Availability column in the BoM to see real-time stock levels for each component. Red means insufficient stock. This helps identify material shortages before starting production.

Add operations (routing)
Under the Operations tab, add the production steps — each operation specifies a work centre, duration, and description. Operations define the sequence of work and are used to calculate production lead times and work centre scheduling. Operations are optional if you only need component tracking without detailed production steps.
