Invoicing Overview

Odoo 19 Enterprise · Invoicing

The Invoicing module is a simplified billing solution for companies that do not need the full Accounting module. It handles customer invoicing and vendor bills without the full chart of accounts.

Invoicing vs Accounting

Odoo offers two financial modes: Invoicing (simplified) and Accounting (full). Invoicing is for companies that primarily need to issue invoices and record bills — without managing journals, ledgers, or financial reports in depth. Accounting is the full module with chart of accounts, journal entries, bank reconciliation, and full reporting. Most businesses doing more than basic invoicing should use Accounting. Invoicing is suitable for freelancers, very small businesses, or as a starting point before upgrading to Accounting.

Upgrade path You can switch from Invoicing mode to Accounting mode later without losing data. Go to Settings > Accounting and activate the Accounting mode. All invoices and bills created in Invoicing mode remain intact.
