Inventory Overview

Odoo 19 Enterprise · Inventory

The Inventory module manages all stock movements — receipts, deliveries, internal transfers, and adjustments. It connects with Sales for deliveries, Purchase for receipts, and Manufacturing for component consumption.

1

What the Inventory module does

Inventory

Inventory tracks the physical movement of goods through your warehouses and locations. Every goods receipt, delivery, internal transfer, and adjustment creates a stock move that updates on-hand quantities in real time. The module supports multiple warehouses, storage locations, lot and serial number tracking, and automated replenishment rules.

2

Key menu areas

Operations contains receipts, deliveries, transfers, and adjustments. Products shows your product catalogue with stock levels. Configuration covers warehouses, locations, routes, and operation types. Reporting shows stock valuation and inventory analysis. The Overview dashboard shows pending operations by type.

3

Product types

Not all products are tracked in inventory. Product type determines behaviour: Storable Product — full inventory tracking with stock levels, valuation, and reordering rules. Consumable — can be sold/used but not tracked (no stock moves). Service — no physical goods, no stock moves. Set the correct type when creating products — this cannot easily be changed after transactions exist.

When to use Consumable Use Consumable for low-value items where tracking cost exceeds benefit — office stationery, cleaning supplies, small components. Use Storable for anything you need to count, value, or replenish systematically.
